Language Arts at Bridgewater

The framework of the middle school language arts program is composed of the instruction and application of the reading process, literary analysis, writing process and applications, communication, and information and media literacy.

As the basis of the language arts department curriculum, we use the SpringBoard program by College Board. It is a unique, comprehensive program that enables students to build skills needed to be successful in AP courses and in college. SpringBoard starts college readiness in the 6th grade. The program engages students in relevant lessons and requires application of critical thinking, problem solving, and reasoning skills through reading, writing, oral literacy, and collaborative activities.
